4 Common Cures for Acne

There are various types of acne—blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples—which may lead to scarring. Acne, however, is a preventable problem that can be cured with a few home remedies. Acne is more common than you can imagine. Over 50 million people suffer from it. There are many prescribed treatments which can help fade them away.

Here are some tried and tested remedies

Lemon juice and honey

Create this simple mixture of lemon and honey to brighten up your skin. This unique concoction will lighten hyperpigmentation caused by the pimple. Leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes before you rinse it off. Apply this three times a week for at least four weeks and see the scars disappear.

If you want greater results, you can add a few more ingredients like saffron, sandalwood, licorice root, turmeric, or orange peel powder.

Chickpea and yogurt

Chickpea flour is a natural bleach that also exfoliates the skin. It also helps maintain the PH level of the skin and controls oil secretion. Meanwhile, the yogurt cools and moisturizes the skin. This mixture exfoliates the skin while the natural lactic acid kills the bacteria. Mix chickpea flour, turmeric, and raw honey along with fresh lemon juice and apply it to dark spots. Rinse after 15 to 20 minutes with warm water. Apply this mixture three times a week for at least four weeks.

Green tea

Salicylic acid, a great acne fighter, is present in green tea and aspirin. Take two aspirins, crush them, and mix them with a tablespoon of cool green tea. Green tea also contains antioxidants that help to fight the bacteria in acne. Mix it to form a paste and wash your hands clean before you apply the mixture to the acne spot. Leave it on 3 to 5 minutes and wash it off.

Oatmeal

Take instant or cooked oatmeal to treat redness of the skin and inflammation. You can use oatmeal flakes, too. Cook the oatmeal and cool it until it is lukewarm. Apply this to the affected area and leave it on for around 10 to 15 minutes. You can then rinse it off with cool water.

You can also create a face mask with oatmeal for your acne-prone skin. Take 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, grind it, and mix with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and water. Apply this to your dry face and leave for ten minutes.

Oatmeal is also a great ingredient to remove blemishes. Mix 3 tablespoons of oatmeal flour, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 teaspoon of white wine vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice along with ¼ cup warm water. Mix into a paste and apply to a dry face. Massage it gently for five minutes and rinse with warm water.
